Meet folkloric textile, art, design, and fashion all in one. Emma’s aesthetic is a lovely beast. The makeup is surreal, savage! -”I love to go through my mother’s and aunt’s old saved clothes for crazy patterns, embroidery and accessories. A lot of my influences also come from old traditional dress codes such as Eskimos and Laplanders, where decoration and function come together. My curiosity always leads me into subjects I do not have much knowledge about and then I reinterpret it into my own ’More is More style’.”-E.L.  Dixie Rose

MANUEL ALBARRAN’s HEAVY COUTURE

Spaniard Manuel Albarran’s “heavy couture” has added more fire to fashion with his futuristic, warrior-like, mythical looking metal headpieces and arm braces. Metal Couture, he so appropriately calls it . I think the warrior-like nuances in his pieces stem from his interest in combat, specifically Martial Arts. But his creations mostly give way to historic, futuristic references with an avant-garde art edge fused with fashion. Manuel likes to work with all metals, leather, fabrics, feathers and wood. It is simply cosmically out there, magnificent and decadent.Via Dazed & Confused. Dixie Rose

GREGORY COLBERT’S ASHES AND SNOW written by Dixie Rosa Fernandez

Ashes and Snow,  Gregory Colbert’s sixteen year ground breaking, hauntingly beautiful odyssey, an exhibition of photography, film, art installations and a novel in letters  fully realized and presented to ten  million people from four continents, along with his idea of the first sustainable traveling “Zocalo” Nomadic Museum, designed by Colombian architect, Simon Velez, will be the most inexplicably soulful, spiritual journey, portrayal of human and animal life living in melodious harmony, I will have ever seen. This is the most visited exhibit by any living artist in history and that’s a direct quote. If you’ve ever cried from such beauty like I did when I saw their sixty minute film, you’d understand how it’s almost a spiritual rebirth what comes over you, a shedding away of what we thought we knew and understood of such, so true and pure as the images which will forever grace the crevices of my mind. My words pale in comparison to what I am grateful to have witnessed then. Dixie
