What makes David Ellis’s work pure is how far evolved he has allowed his movement in  music lead him in creating, layering most intricately, vicariously. He has a force and enjoys sharing it with musicians, performers, beat makers in a live setting. It is plain to see he understands music is what has opened him up to the ultimate improvisation which he calls “motion paintings”.  Having live DJs play while graff artists do murals has been overly done in NY from time to time. But to me it seems this cat has taken his flow to magnificent heights in his kinetic installations which produce analogue sequences in rhythm. Like a good song that gets you open on a dance floor, he emotes a certain stream of consciousness in his interpretation of music he listens to in the moment, when he’s in the zone. And I know many a hip hop underground dancer which exemplifies this school of thought. True improvisation comes with allowing for your creation to happen however it manifests for you, the individual.  Dixie
