YOUNG & RESTLESS S/S 2011 BY ASHBURN ENG

Young & Restless S/S 2011 – The Flying Squirrel

She woke up to her worst nightmare, feeling utmost alienated.
A foreign place she found herself to be, home to strange creatures called “humans”.
Nothing looks the same, nothing feels familiar.
But as a master of camouflage and escapism,
she soon adapts the traits of mathematical geometry.
Now she is a fusion of both worlds:
The organic attributes of the forest, her home,
and the geometrical shapes of the city landscape.

I feel it was an instinctual and intuitive metamorphosis for Ashburn Eng, Test Shoot Gallery’s Art Director and fashion stylist,  to naturally adhere to and evolve into  fashion design. Inspired by modern architecture,  he’s birthed a bold, geometrically urban and ethereal collection working off simple shapes of squares, triangles and circles.  His creations take flight in our New York City’s fantasy filled concrete landscapes.  We can escape, fantasize through his clothes and lose ourselves in our restless city streets.  Ashburn’s designs drape the body in organic synchronicity.  Its ultra lightweight and breathable fabrics inform us of a playful, confident beauty, a lightness of being with its aquamarine, turquoise, teal green juxtaposed with sandy tones and young&restless’ signature black color.  For the sheek city girl who dares.
